The St. Nick’s Edge
Hello, and welcome to the very first St. Nick’s Edge!
We’re excited to connect more closely with our customers and fellow knife enthusiasts through this newsletter. With each issue, we’ll break down what’s happening in the shop, explain how our discounts and promotions work, share upcoming deals, and spotlight a brand we think deserves some extra attention. Sometimes, that will be an industry favorite; other times, we’ll introduce you to a lesser-known gem.
Each edition will wrap up with a “Sharp Fact” from knife history and a “Mail Call” section, where we’ll answer your questions—so be sure to send them in!
Let’s get into our very first edition.
Discounts and Sales
How We Mark Discounts:
At St. Nick’s Foley, we mark individual clearance items with small color-coded stickers (typically 0.25"–0.50") directly on the box or product:
🟢 Green = 15% off
🟡 Yellow = 20% off
🔵 Blue = 30% off
🔴 Red = 40% off
If we mark an entire brand or line or use a custom discount percentage, we’ll use a printed or handwritten label instead.
Please note: Our 15% discount for military members, law enforcement, and first responders does not stack with clearance or sale items.

Sharp Fact
In 1884, Karl Elsener founded Victorinox (Swiss Army) in Ibach-Schwyz, Switzerland. The original Swiss Army Knife debuted in 1897, but it wasn’t until 1909 that Elsener named the company after his mother, Victoria. When stainless steel—or inox—became popular in 1921, the name evolved into Victorinox, the iconic brand we know today.
